AI Update: Copilot, ChatGPT
OpenAI has rolled out its newest main model, GPT-5, which replaces older versions by default and brings better reasoning, flexibility, and adaptability. Users can switch between interaction modes (Auto, Fast, Thinking) so that responses better fit needs for speed versus depth. OpenAI has also improved how ChatGPT manages memory, including project-only memory within “Projects” so the assistant can stay focused on a specific task without going off topic. Other usability updates include the ability to branch conversations (so you can try different versions without losing the original), greater control over voice options, better file upload capacities per project, and new connectors to other tools, such as Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts.
Microsoft Copilot is becoming more powerful, flexible, and easier to use. Copilot Mode in the Edge browser now blends chat, search, and tab management so users can work across tabs more smoothly. On Windows 11, especially on Copilot+ PCs, AI features include studio effects (e.g., background blur) that work with external webcams, voice access, and “fluid dictation” options. The Microsoft 365 Copilot bundles for Sales, Service, and Finance are being rolled into the core offering, which simplifies licensing and lowers costs. In addition, updates in productivity tools provide better data loss prevention, greater admin control over how Copilot agents are used, richer search and filtering in documents and files, and more mobile-agent support to improve productivity on phones and tablets.
